My mother had angiogram procedures on both of her legs in April of this year due to severe circulation issues that was compromising blood. We came in for a consultation with Shelby to discuss the best course of action. Shelby did a great job of explaining the procedure and treatment plan with us. She was thorough and knowledgeable, and she answered all our questions. Upon the morning of the procedure, we were greeted by front desk staff, whom were warm and friendly, and offered us water and asked us if we needed anything. The office was clean and inviting, and there was fresh self-serve coffee available to brew. After a short wait, we were greeted by a very friendly technician with a big smile on his face named Omar. Omar took us to the treatment room where my mother would get prepped for surgery. His warm, positive demeanor and great sense of humor immediately put us at ease. He was very patient with my mother and very respectful, while also being very competent and efficient at his job, which he really seemed to enjoy. There was also a young pleasant young lady that assisted my mother that day named whom I believe is named Daisy. Again, she was so kind with a very upbeat and bubbly demeanor. Just what we needed to take ease our minds and help us not be so nervous about the medical procedures that were about to take place. Also, Edgar, whom I believe is an anesthesiologist, also assisted us. And he was stellar, showing great concern for my mother's comfort and well-being. The surgeon that did the procedure, Dr. Singh, was top notch is so much as he explained in detail what he was going to do, answered our questions thoroughly, and listened to our concerns patiently. And his bedside manner outstanding. I must say, all the staff were just wonderful. Follow up care has also been satisfactory so far. My mother is still healing, so time will tell if the procedures she had will have the full desired outcome, however, I will say that the stubborn ulcer she had on her toe that wouldn't heal due to poor blood flow had now healed. I believe that is, at least in part, due to the procedure she had done, so that's definitely a win in my book! Overall, my mother and I have thus far had a very positive experience at TLC Vascular. — RiseAbove All "I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for Dr. Singh from the Vascular Institute of Northern California. • Angioplasty | Services & Procedures | TLC Vascular Care | Lower Extremity Specialists | Northern California & Houston, Texas| TLC Vascular | Sacramento, CA & Houston, TX

Angioplasty is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to open narrowed or blocked arteries and restore healthy blood flow. It involves a tiny balloon and often a mesh tube called a stent. Angioplasty Angioplasty is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to open narrowed or blocked arteries and restore healthy blood flow. It involves a tiny balloon and often a mesh tube called a stent. Back to All Services & Procedures How Do Angioplasty Procedures Work? Dye injection A doctor puts a safe contrast liquid into a vein (usually in your foot, leg, or arm). X-ray pictures As the dye moves through your blood vessels, live X-rays (fluoroscopy) take clear pictures of the inside of your veins. Treatment option Sometimes, doctors can fix a blocked vein right away using a small balloon or mesh tube called a stent during the same test. What are Angioplasty Procedures For? Heart Attack Doctors perform it right away as an emergency treatment to open a completely blocked artery and save heart tissue. Severe Chest Pain It helps patients with worsening chest pain (angina) that does not improve with lifestyle changes or prescription drugs. Significant Blockages Tests like an angiogram or stress test show a heavy buildup of plaque that dangerously slows down blood flow to the heart muscle What are the Benefits of Angioplasty Procedures Immediate physical benefits Restores blood flow : Compresses plaque against the vessel wall, widening the passage and improving circulation Relieves symptoms : Can quickly ease chest pain (angina), leg pain from poor circulation, or other symptoms of restricted blood flow Can be combined with stenting : Often paired with stent placement to help keep the vessel open long-term after the balloon is deflated and removed Procedural advantages Minimally invasive : Performed via catheter through a small incision, usually in the wrist or groin — no open surgery needed Often done during diagnosis : If a blockage is found during an angiogram, angioplasty can typically be performed in the same session Short recovery time : Most patients go home the same day or within 24 hours, compared to weeks of recovery from bypass surgery Local anesthesia : General anesthesia usually isn't required, which lowers surgical risk, especially for older or higher-risk patients Repeatable : Can be performed again if needed, unlike some surgical interventions Clinical impact Reduces heart attack and stroke risk : By opening narrowed coronary or carotid arteries before they fully block Emergency treatment : During an active heart attack, rapid angioplasty (sometimes called "primary angioplasty") is one of the most effective ways to restore blood flow and limit heart muscle damage Improves exercise tolerance and quality of life : Reduces symptoms that limit physical activity Alternative to more invasive surgery : For many patients, angioplasty achieves comparable results to bypass surgery with lower risk, shorter hospital stay, and faster recovery Are You a Candidate for an Angioplasty Procedure? Severe Blockages A coronary angiogram shows significant narrowing (often 70% or more) in one or two arteries. Unrelieved Chest Pain Frequent angina or shortness of breath that continues despite using heart medications. Heart Attacks Emergency treatment is needed to quickly open a blocked vessel and save heart muscle Schedule Your Appointment Today! Angiogram An angiogram is an X-ray test that uses a special contrast dye to show how blood flows through the arteries or veins in your body. Doctors use it to find narrow spots, blockages, or bulges (aneurysms) in blood vessels. Back to All Services & Procedures How Do Angiograms Work? Numbing and Access The doctor cleans and numbs a small area on your wrist or groin, then makes a tiny cut to reach the blood vessel. Inserting the Tube A thin, flexible plastic tube called a catheter is gently guided through the blood vessel up to the target area, such as the heart. Injecting the Dye The special contrast dye flows through the tube into the blood vessels. You might feel a brief warm or flushing sensation. Taking X-rays As the dye moves through the arteries or veins, an X-ray machine takes rapid pictures. Finding the Problem Areas where the dye cannot flow freely show blockages, narrow spots, or bulges (aneurysms). What Do Angiograms Do? Catheter insertion A thin, flexible tube is placed into a blood vessel through a small cut in your arm or leg. Dye injection Special contrast dye flows through the tube into your blood vessels. X-ray imaging X-rays take pictures in real-time as the dye moves, showing where blood flow is slowed or stopped What are the Benefits of Angiograms Diagnostic advantages Precise visualization : Shows the exact location, severity, and extent of blockages, narrowing (stenosis), or abnormalities in blood vessels Identifies blockages before symptoms worsen : Can detect coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, aneurysms, or blood clots often before they cause a major event Guides treatment decisions : Helps doctors decide whether a patient needs medication, angioplasty/stenting, or bypass surgery High accuracy : Considered a "gold standard" for evaluating blood vessel disease, often more detailed than non-invasive imaging like CT or MRI angiography Procedural benefits Minimally invasive : Typically done through a small catheter inserted in the wrist or groin, rather than open surgery Same-visit intervention : If a blockage is found, doctors can often treat it immediately in the same procedure (e.g., balloon angioplasty or stent placement) — this is called a "diagnostic and therapeutic" procedure Quick recovery : Compared to surgical alternatives, recovery time is generally short — often same-day or next-day discharge Real-time imaging : Provides live, moving images of blood flow, which is useful for assessing how well vessels are functioning, not just their structure Clinical impact Helps prevent heart attacks and strokes : By catching arterial blockages early, especially in the coronary or carotid arteries Assesses damage after an event : Useful after a heart attack or stroke to understand what happened and plan further treatment Evaluates other vascular conditions : Used for kidney artery issues, aneurysms, blood clots, and vascular malformations throughout the body Are You a Candidate for an Angiogram? Leg Problems Leg pain, cramping, or tiredness when walking (claudication) Angina Unexplained chest pain or pressure (angina) Inability for Limbs Heal from Injury Non-healing sores or low blood flow in your limbs Dizziness & Vision Changes Dizziness, vision changes, or signs pointing to blood vessel issues in the brain or kidneys Schedule Your Appointment Today! Of course, the facility was very clean. Most importantly, though, the attitude of the staff was impressive. The technician, Alan Cedeno, was punctual ( per our appointment time). His interactions with my mother and me were respectful. During the entire scan, he was extremely gentle, considerate and soft-spoken. At the reception desk, Anabel and Omar were eager to help; they were friendly within the boundaries of professional communication. A happy team is a reflection on competent, caring management. — SC "I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for Dr. Singh from the Vascular Institute of Northern California. My husband has been facing significant vascular issues, and after consulting with another doctor who offered no hope for improvement, we were fortunate to find Dr. Singh. Dr. Singh possesses tremendous skills and unmatched technique in his field. His innovative approach and dedicated care have made a remarkable difference in my husband's condition. The results we have seen under his treatment are nothing short of amazing. In addition to Dr. Singh's expertise, his staff is exceptionally professional and supportive, making each visit a positive experience. His remarkable commitment to his patients sets him apart from other doctors, and I cannot thank him enough for the incredible care he has provided." — Leona Bettencourt "I would like to share my experience at TLC Vascular Northern California Clinic. — RiseAbove All "Was treated with much cocern and consideration, and knowledge of what they were doing and talking about." — Cecil Forte "Felt comfortable and explained the procedure and answered all my questions.
