WHAT IS AN ANGIOGRAM? A lower extremity angiogram is a diagnostic procedure that is used to help diagnose and treat diseased blood vessels. Through the use of a small catheter inserted into your groin or foot, and contrast imaging, the physician is able to identify blocked, damaged, or abnormal arteries in your legs. If clinically indicated, the doctor may perform: Angioplasty – using a balloon to stretch open a narrowed or blocked artery Atherectomy – “cleaning out” the plaque in the artery using a laser or rotating device Stenting – to help keep the artery open after atherectomy or angioplasty, a small tube made of wire mesh is permanently implanted in the artery to help keep the vessel open What to expect after the procedure? Our facility offers same day, outpatient procedures. This means you will be able to go home after the procedure after spending a few hours in post-care recovery with a family member, friend, or caregiver. It is normal after the procedure to experience: Bruising at the puncture site Minor swelling and soreness More detailed discharge instructions will discussed after your procedure. He underwent Radiofrequency ablation of his proximal GSV and subsequent Varithena treatment to his distal GSV and wound bed. Dr. Singh has been providing the highest level of Cardio-Vascular care to patients since completing his training in 2010 and has had the privilege of being trusted by his patient’s and their families to perform over 10,000 invasive procedures . Dr. Singh’s philosophy of care includes treating the individual, not just the disease. With every patient, he takes a holistic approach and connects with them on a personal level. He strives to empower his patients with knowledge so they can partner with him in making decisions to improve their heart and vascular health. Dr. Singh has served as Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory & Structural Heart Disease at Adventist Health Heart & Vascular Institute and also on the Dignity Health Foundation Board . Currently he serves as Associate Clinical Professor of Cardiology at Northstate University College of Medicine. After completing his medical degree, Dr. Singh undertook his internship and Residency training at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and completed his Interventional CardioVascular Fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota; with a special focus on Endovascular interventions. In addition to comprehensive cardiac care, he offers a full spectrum of endovascular care, with expertise in both arterial disease or PAD and venous disease or CVI. Specifically, he has expertise in complex vascular/coronary interventions, atherectomy (coronary/peripheral), TAVR, PFO/ASD closure, and radial/pedal access procedures. Dr. Singh, is regularly invited to lecture/train/precept physicians on advanced cardiac and vascular procedures/techniques. Dr. Singh is highly recognized in the Cardio-Vascular field. He is very well published with over a 100 publications and presentations , including in JAMA/JACC, and has also received major awards from the American College of Cardiology. He continues to actively participate in clinical research and has been the regional PI (principal investigator) for several device/drug trials. Additionally, he is an accomplished regional/national speaker in the Cardio-Vascular field and collaborates with both academia & industry as a consultant/speaker. Dr. Singh has also been honored with several “Best Doc” awards since 2016 .
