A leg ultrasound is a safe, painless imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to see blood flow and check the large arteries and veins in your legs. It helps doctors find blood clots, poor circulation, and blocked blood vessels.

How Do Ultrasound sWork?

Venous Ultrasound

Looks for deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which is a dangerous blood clot inside a deep vein. It also checks for weak vein valves that cause varicose veins.


Arterial ultrasound

Looks for narrowed or blocked arteries caused by plaque buildup, known as peripheral artery disease (PAD).
